The "Made" Plan
Phew!

It is with great pleasure that we can report that Breckland Council at its full meeting on Thursday 22nd June has finally "made" the Yaxham Neighbourhood Plan!  It is now part of the Breckland Local Development Plan Documents and Policies applicable to every planning application that comes up from now on.  This is a great achievement for the village.  Yaxham was represented at the Council meeting by Parish Council Chairman, Peter Lowings, NP4Yaxham Working Group Chairman, Maggie Oechsle, and other villagers.  William Nunn, Leader of the Council, Sam Chapman-Allen, Deputy Leader and other Cabinet members, Gordon Bambridge and Alison Webb, congratulated Yaxham on being the first in Breckland and the 300th in the Country. The Plan and related documents are below.

Neighbourhood Plan Working Group Next Steps
The next phase of work starts now: implementing the policies; taking forward the action points; dealing with planning applications; monitoring Breckland's 5 year land supply; and securing Yaxham's position in Breckland's emerging Local Plan, which still has potentially another year until it is adopted.  The NP4Yaxham Working Group therefore put proposals to the Parish Council July 2017 meeting, which were agreed, for this next phase of work.  Planning does not stop - we all have to maintain vigilance to retain all that the village values within Yaxham.

----------------------------------
Yaxham was the first Neighbourhood Plan Referendum in Breckland
THE RESULT:
  • Electorate 671: Voted 389 : 58% Turnout
  • 358 or 92% voted YES
  • 31 or 8% voted NO
  • 358 is 53% of the Electorate i.e. over half the village voted YES!
  • In 2013, last county elections, the ward turnout was 32%
  • So we've made a huge difference in turnout!
  • We are the 1st in Breckland and only the 300th in the country, after 6 years of NPlans!
A huge thank you to everyone who has worked, supported and voted YES!
